History

In today’s financial environment the purchase of stocks at cheap prices and the sale at high prices became quite popular. 

Surprisingly,  it all began in the year 1602.

1602: Bourse for the first time ever.

The Amsterdam stock exchange is known as the world’s first stock exchange. The Dutch East India Company formed this stock exchange. This stock exchange started trading of shares in printed forms. 

Year 1875: Rise of BSE in Asia.

BSE has become synonymous with Dalal Street, but it was not so always. BSE was actually Started under a banyan tree by 5 stock brokers in the year 1850.By 1875 it came to be known as “Native and stock broker association”. Today BSE is the 9th largest exchanges of the world with an overall market capitalization of 2,18,730 billion rupees.

Year 1992: Year of amalgamation of Technology with finance.

NSE was established in 1992 based on suggestions by the Pherwani committee to bring transparency in Indian equity market. For the very first time in India paper based settlement of shares was replaced by an electronic settlement. Process of Dematerialized

was initiated. Prices that were subject to only brokers now were also available with clients, they can trade in a remote place as well. Today BSE had approx. 5000 listed companies.

Other than these 2 prominent stock exchanges, India has several regional stock exchanges to provide regional finance for a small company.
