National Stock exchange is going to launch Future & Options Trading on Nifty Midcap Select Index on 24th January 2022. This index is a combination of selected 25 stocks from Nifty Midcap 150 stocks. Let’s understand sector-wise weightage in this Index as on 31st December 2021.

As we can see in the above table, the highest weightage is given to the Financial Services sector index with around 27%. Then the Automobile sector with 13% and Industrial Manufacturing sector with 9% got 2nd and 3rd highest weightage respectively. Companies in the Nifty Midcap Select Index get weightage on the basis of their Free float market capitalization. As on 31st December 2021, the followings are the top 10 companies in the index.

Here we can see that Tata Power got 7.52% weightage in the index. Then SRF Ltd. with 7% and Zee Entertainment with 6% got 2nd and 3rd highest weightage respectively in Index.
Hence, F&O trading in the Nifty Midcap Select Index will open the door for Index Derivatives Traders.
